• Need some help

I've got one or a few problems all happening at the same time.

- Loud tick in engine bay coming from passenger side back corner
- Exhaust deeper and louder then normal
- Faint buzzing sound coming from between tailpipe tips
- Takes more pressure to push in gas pedal
- Stumble/vibrations and loud gurgling when decellerating
- Sometimes has noticable exhaust smell inside car (possibly from other cars)
- Worse gas mileage and poorer performance

I thought i had it fixed before but obviously not and now it is much worse. The things i know need fixed are tranny fluid/filter change/ pulley assembly replaced and coolant flush. I'm sure it is fuel system related and i am going to get it checked tomorrow, but i'd rather save 120 bucks by figuring it out myself.

I have newer plugs/ wires and fuel filter and oil, but i will run through a lucas and change the filter too. I noticed it most 2 times while getting near E, so i was thinking possibly the screen is plugged in the tank or (god forbid) it is the fuel pump going bad. I did have to move the egr a bit to put in new thermo, but i dont think its bad. Tomorrow i will do cleaner/ filter/
throttle body cleaner/ and check plugs and wires and fill up with new gas, but i think it needs more.

Car starts easily. Drives well and accelerates well.

I have searched evap, egr, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, etc and read most. Just seeing if anyone has suggestions (the guy tomorrow will do the pressure test and i hear it pressurizing in run) before i go tomorrow. Thanks again for all the help, i'd rather pay an assload then break stuff and have to get towed.

I don't mean to insult you by suggesting this, but your exhaust problems sound like your system is unhooked somewhere. Wiggle all the pipes on your catback and see if you can see any 'shiny' metal at the joints. That would tell you that the system is loose and moving around. That would account for your deeper sound, maybe the buzzing, and definately the exhaust smell inside your car. I'd bet you're dealing with more than one problem here. By the way, I had similar exhaust probs a while back...I felt so dumb when I found an exhaust clamp was loose. Good luck....

thanks for the reply. I do have a spot where the exhaust bangs, but only when i hit bumps. I will get the welded with another hanger, but no rub spots on pipes at all and all is welded on.

I changed coolant, fuel filter and ran lucas through. I am also going to use seafoam, if nothing else just because it could use it. I didnt go to the place because to guy wants around 100 bucks and says it would be at least 1-2 hours and i dont know how much i truct this guy to do it anyway.

Could the 02 sensor the muffler shop put in to the s pipe be bad now causing any of these problems? Also the stumbling and very loud gurgling are much less now that i ran gas low then filled up again. My buddy things either the pump is clogged at some point so it starts struggling for fuel when it gets near E or the basket screen might be clogged up. Lots of problems for barely having 42k miles.

I am going to take it to the dealership just to have them run diagnostics and find all the problems they can, then either have them , myself, or someone else fix them.

I will have them check fuel system, pump, pressure, evap, vacuums, sensors, etc. Any other suggestions.

Also a real newbie question that i have searched and looked in my haynes for, the black plastic piece on the middle drivers side next to the throttle body and a few inches from the thermo and egr pipe. I need to find out what this is. My haynes has a far away picture and i cant tell, thought maybe part of evap. It was very loose so i tightened it, seemed to run better, but now worse. Maybe needs a new gasket to seal.

I know i'm asking tons of ****, but i'm tired of fixing things and not being able to upgrade . I appreciate all your guys help for everything.
