electric prob AGAIN i guess it wasnt the alt *UPDATE*
ok so i was cruzin for about 2hrs tonite and i my car voltmeter starts dropiin in the read AGAIn. this is after i replace my alt with a 180amp ho alt, and i took my system out a month ago so i dont kno what the fuk it is. i guess mayb the battery? i am in the process of upgrading "the big 3" to 1/0 gauge. me even with a HO alt, 800CCA Duralast Gold Battery 0 guage running to my amps and 0 gauge from the alt to the battery and 0 gauge from the ( - ) of the battery to the chassis.
And my gauge still just barely touches the red when i bump it loud when im stopped, and speed up 1.2k and up and it goes right up back to normal.

I've been wondering this for myself. I have heard that the cheaper ones are not a full farad. And we all know you get what you pay for.... I've been using (2) 1 farad Lightning Audio caps for several years now. No problems.
i have the stock alt and the stock batt. with a 1 farad gsi cap. Just for fun i put my friends infinity perfect sub and gave it +1500 watts peak and my power droped alittle (13.9 volts) at idel on big bass hits but it went back to 14.4 when when their wasent as much. alot of people on this web site think caps dont work but im now i strongly recomend them! they do work
BTW 1 farad per 1000 watts

i dont get it though, why do i need a cap even if i dont have my system running. i guuess i wasnt clear b4. my voltage was droping when i put on the brakes like at stop signs after cruzing for like 2hrs and it would drop into the red and my car like died and i lost power steering and no acceleration. my system is out and my amp is in my room so y the hell would my car be doing this under the normal monsoon system?

maybe you need a new batt, what kind do you have, has it ever drained all the way before how old is it? check all your conections. did this happen before you changed your alt?

Ok I looked at your page and wtih the pwoer that your running theres no way that your lights should be dimming that much. Have you used a multimeter an measured the voltage of your battery? Im pretty sure your battery is dead due to your ses light coming on and your power steering dieing. Take your car to pep boys or somewhere like that and have them test your battery. A cap won't help in this situation. If you get your battery tested and all is good with it then maybe you got a bad HO alt. There is a few ways to test that so if the battery is not your problem then let me know. Also it's not the "big 2" it's the "big 3". The third one is your chassis to engine wire. The charging system is like a big circle. From you positive battery terminal to your amp, to ground, and back through the chassis to your negative battery teminal. The alternator works the same way, by connecting the negative lead from the alt. to the chassis it allows the completion of the circle. I don't know if this makes sense cause I am tired and im goin to bed so I'll reread it when I wake up ( <---- looks like hes asleep not embarrassed)
