I can hold the brakes and floor the gas pedal but it wont even spin the back tire one bit!?!? What could be wrong? Its decently fast for a V6. I added a Hooker exhaust and whisper lid.

Re: 1998 V6 Camaro cant do a burnout!?!?!?
I admit it's tough to spin 'em with the 3.08 gears. I have a Magnaflow catback exhaust and custom intake system with the stock 3.08 gear ratio and it's hard to spin 'em. Sometimes when it's cold, but not always when it's warm.
I'm throwing in 3.73 gears, a limited slip differential, shift kit, a cam, pushrods, valve springs/retainers, headers, and a tune this weekend (and early next week). I'll let you know if it loosens 'em up a bit. ;)
Oh, and I have a '98 3.8 A4 Camaro.

You just have to time it right. There's more to it than putting both pedals to the floor.1998 Camaro V6 \"Black Mamba\"<br />Y87<br />Whisper Lid w/ K&N filter<br />Flowmaster American Thunder<br />Numerous appearance mods.<br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2154172\" target=\"_blank\">Car Domain</a>

Do you have the Y87 performance package?
I've heard that people with this package (tighter steering, limited slip, 3.42s) can but others without it can't...

Mine will just give a little squeak flooring it from a stop. I have the Y87 as well. You can powerbrake anything if you know how. Just practice. Re: 1998 V6 Camaro cant do a burnout!?!?!?
you dont want to hold the brake to the floor. it can be hard w/ 3.08's. it also has alot to do with tires too. with good tires on my car i could dump it(m5) and leave a nice strip, if i held the brake it would inch forward and the clutch would slip a little bit so it would spin, slip, spin, slip.
bottom line with good tires and open 3.08s it wouldnt be suprising if you couldnt get it to budge.<a href=\"http://cardomain.com/id/articacid\" target=\"_blank\">2002 35th Anniv. Re: 1998 V6 Camaro cant do a burnout!?!?!?
I can't spin my tires too well either, and I have a manual. Its time for a new clutch :(. After I get it rolling forward with the clutch all the way out (otherwise it will slip like no other), I can floor it and get them to spin a bit. And its real easy when going around a turn...
This is with Y87 (3.23s w/LSD and 245 tires).<b><i>Don\'t Ever Judge Me</i></b><br /><a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/id/earnhardt132000\" target=\"_blank\">\'96 Firebird Y87 3.8L V6 5spd</a><br />--No mods as of yet, shoot me some ideas if ya want.<br />178,000 miles and counting
