ok i got the car for free after it sat for a while at my cuzes shop getting preped for paint but it ran i brought it to my house stated working on it and such getting it ready for summer then yesterday i went to start it and it wouldnt start it just studdered so today i changes the fuel filter drained the old gas and put in almost a half tank of fresh gas i also cleaned out the throttle body and such but it still wont start it dosnt even studder as much anymore. the check engine light also came on. idk what it could be as im only 15 but im thinking mabe fuel pump? how much would a new one be and how hard are they to change?
    thanks steve

    Re: not starting

The fuel pump is an expensive and labor intensive enough repair that you don't just "decide" to replace it on a hunch on our cars.

You either cut a hole in the car above the tank to remove it from the tank, or you remove the fuel tank to get to the pump inside.

I would do some more troubleshooting first [got enough voltage, spark, fuel pressure, etc?]

              Re: not starting

the check engine light is always on if your car doesnt start, because it would pretty much just be on the on position, no oil pressure etc...
