I have a noise occasionally from the left front of the car.. sounds like it is coming from near the left tire. It happens when I turn the wheel to the left, and also to a smaller degree sometimes when I am just slowly backing out of a parking spot. The noice sounds like something rubbing or some kind of friction type noise. I've checked the wheel itself and it has clearance around it. it is sometimes fairly loud when I am turning the wheel.. sounds like someone is dragging a heavy chair across a bare wood floor.. haha any ideas? It's a 2001 3.8l firebird.

Maybe your front left brake pad is on it's last legs or your rotor is REALLY dirty. I know that mine got so bad it started actually scraping against the pad - that's how much dirt and crap there was. Check your pad is all I can think of.

It could be a rust ring on the rotor on the inner part towards the hub. The smallest things will make a noise with brakes. You could also have a wheel hub going out as well, since you are noticing the noise while turning.Previous F-bodies
1.1980Z A3
2.1991Z A4 5.0
3.1994 coupe M5
4.1993 TA A4
5.1998 coupe A4
Currently restoring a 1980Z
and looking to pick up a 1998-2002 M5
