Fan switch question

I hate to bring up an old topic, and YES I already did a search but I have a question about the led's. Using this instruction at this link Fan switch guide. I am wondering if I take out the resistors if I can use 12V LED's?

Use the 12 volt LED instead. I kept messing up the resistors with this mod. GO to Radio Shack and get em for like $3 bucks apiece.

Hehe I work at radioshack, but I kept getting two stories. So use the 12 volt LED's without resistors.
