Well yesterday was nice, till it got to 80degrees, why can't it just stay at 72-75 all day.

Anyways, it was getting hot, so I pull into a garage and they check my a/c, and then recharge it. They put a thermostat in the a/c vent 47 degrees

So after I left I remembered I replaced the condenser thing last summer about 1/2 way through the summer and had it recharged. So now I'm thinking I may have a small leak somewhere. Bummer.

I seem to have a small refridgerant leak myself also. I recharged it properly with tools and gauges so cool air flowed through the vents but it gradually faded away after 3 days. Now I have room temperature air from the vents. I also need feedback as to why and how I can rectify this small problem, Im staying tuned.

Unless you have a leak detector or put some dye in the system and have the system recharged you will never find the leak. A word of advice though...don't be stupid and go to Walmart and buy that stuff that seals as leaks..that is unless you really want to replace your whole ac system at a cost of...shall we say ALOT

When my older systems leaked, I used refrigerant from Interdynamics (from Wal Mart) that had the R134A, seal conditioner, and oil all in one can. It worked well for several years until I dumped the car. I think that as long as your leak is a weak seal, that stuff is OK. But if you have a leak anywhere but a seal, you have no choice but to get the part replaced.

L1tech, is this the stuff you were referring to, or is there an actual "stop leak" product, kind of like for radiators? Something like that I would NEVER use.

You can buy a dye kit for 20 dollars, but they are a pain still to find the leak, You could always take it to a dealer, they you help you out with you wallet.. hehe

The problem with buying the can of stuff that has everything in it...oil and whatnot..is that you have no way of knowing how much oil is in your system already, so now you use this stuff and have way too much oil in there and now your ac doesn't work properly because there is to much oil in the system...what do you do...put another can in..now there is 2x too much of everything in the system..if you didn't have a leak before you will soon. Ac is a simple concept, however without the proper tools and UNDERSTANDING of how the system works you are just going to loose your cool..yeah that was corny...adn cost you more money in the long run than if you had a pro do it in the first palce
