Here's the deal, 1990 Pontiac Firebird, V6...anything else about the car you need to know ask.
Basically, when I put the car in park it still rolls. (Since it has park, we're talking automatic tranny) I was working in my garage yesterday and and while I was standing there, my car started rolling into the garage. I checked and it was still in park, and its done it a couple times since then.
Second issue, maybe related, but my car wouldn't start today after a decent length journey. I parked it at a Wendy's for a quick bite to eat (had to put on the parking break) and when I came back out, it wouldn't start. It wouldn't engage the starter at all, like the car wasn't actually in park. I tried putting it in neutral to start it, but it wouldn't do that either. I had someone jump the car and it seemed fine, but the battery is new and the alternator isn't bad. I got to my destination a like 15 more mins from Wendy's parked the car for a little while, then went out and check and it started right up. It still rolled in park, but it started this time.
Could these problems be related, and if so, what's the solution to keep the damn thing from rolling?
