so is it the prothane tranny mount of the energy suspension tranny mount....
so is it the prothane tranny mount of the energy suspension tranny mount....
that leaves a gap which makes you have to fill it with washers?
im gonna get a polyeurothane transmission mount but dont know which one requires you to fill in the gap.

Hey Ian, for the $30 for the tranny mount, you think I should swap the prothane for an ES, or go to the bother of getting a solid aluminum shim machined to fit in and fill in the gap? Im a little pissed because I went with prothane since people claim they didnt have to drill out the crossmember with them, which I did anyway and now have this other problem to deal with.

if i were you, id probably just return the prothane one and get the ES one. i cannot vouch for the prothane one, as i have never used it, but i know for a fact that the ES one i got, after i drilled the crossmember, was fine. there was not a space issue or anything like that. I would much rather have the mount itself flat on the crossmember than use a shim and everything. hope that helps.
I guess it would be the height of them that would be important. Ian, did you block the tailshaft of your tranny so it stayed neutral when you put the new mount in, or did it drop a little and the push it back up into place with the new mount? what happens if I just let the tranny drop that 1/2" in the back? thats going to put stress on the seal up fron and Im going to blow that, arent I?

ellik, when i did the mount, i jacked the front of the car up by the k-member with a floor jack, and used the wimpy little jack in the car to support the tranny. i raised the wimpy jack to just touching the tranny, and then unbolted and dropped the crossmember. i didnt lift or move the tranny at all. i dropped the crossmember and let the jack support the tranny, then bolted the ES mount on, drilled the new hole for the bolt, and bolted the crossmember back up. you shouldnt move the tranny at all.
when you do the ES one, take some pics from the rear of the trans facing the crossmember if you can. that will help people with your gap fix if the ES one gives you the same problem.
will do.... was going to do pics last time, but sort of forgot till the car was off the jackstands. if the ES doesnt work, Im getting an aluminum shim machined to put in to take care of the gap. I really dont like all those washers. If I have to do that, I'll post dimensions for the shim too.
