• Side Effects of reaching speed limiter?!?

What usually happens when the speed limiter is reached? Does the car shake, just cut off or what? Yesterday I was racing a 5.0 mustang(read in kill stories) and I think I reached my speed limiter. My car started shaking until I reduced speed till about 70mph. after that it was normal. I even took up to a 100mph again just to be sure and it felt ok. Has this happened to anyone?!?

I've reached the speed limiter quite a few times :D . Nothing really happens. Your fuel is cut off, so you car kind of comes to a stop, not really cut off, but somehting like that. Didnt experience any shaking...

It's like hitting your rev limiter.

Maybee you should look elsewhere. I dont think that the shaking is your speed limiter. You cant even really feal the speed limiter, you just stop accelerating because it cuts off fuel.

I think I know where the problem came from. One tire is more wasted than the other from when I had the open differential. So that is really screwing up my handling at higher speeds. I'm getting new tires as soon as my income tax return comes in.

When I hit my speed limiter the car just hangs out at 118 and keeps rolling... its kinda like someone backs off the throttle for me, probably cuz of me E-throttle.

At first I got my car up to about 110mph and then my revs was going up and down. Well this Sunday after getting my highflow cat, S, and I pipe installed, I ran it again and got my car up to 120mph at 4rpms. It didn't shut down or anything, but it won't go any faster neither. Did those extra mods make a difference or is it just my imagination?

how do i get rid of the speed limiter?

Is it just me or does that seem kinda dangerous? free rolling at 120? I am suprised the manufacturer would let it do that?

I have never hit the speed limiter, but, I wonder if it would do that in a automatic?

Well, I don't think anything is suppose to happen when you hit the speed limiter. Right after the break in period I took my car out and go it up to about 120. My friend said it was 122, but that's not the point. I didn't feel anything happen, except I couldn't go any faster.
But as for the shaking, you might check the tire balance, that's usually where shaking would come from.

nope, in my 99 Automatic, it just doesnt go past 118mph. It pretty much just stops accelerating there, but that's it. It doesn't cut-off or anything.
