ok well since i have headers, y pipe, high flow cat and then the o2 sensor, my ses light stays on. cause it's too hot or something. anyways, my car has to get inspected by sat. and i was talking to a guy and he said even if you disconnect your battery to reset your computer it will still get pulled up while they are running your car. is that true? i'm looking into getting the casper sim. but then i don't think that i will pass since the it's a sim. i could go to autozone and rent their scanner and clear my codes and hopefully it stays off till the car is finished. someone give me some answers please

    Re: ses light

For peace of mind, I would have autozone clear the code. I remember reading that dis/reconnecting the battery won't clear the PCM's memory, so the light wouldn't be on, but it would still read as a DTC. How far is the Zone from the inspection place? most the time it'd take about 50 miles for a DTC to pop back up after it's cleared.
    hope that helps.

Kristen, give me a ring. I have a OBD II scanner that scans and clears codes.

when you clear the codes, you cannot pull them back up, they are gone. if you fix the problem and the light goes out itself, the codes stay in there.

if you clear it, you WILL NOT PASS. if you clear the codes it actually clears everything and restarts the entire system test. it takes a little while for it to complete the tests too. newer cars are not sniff tested, as long as the computer says all of your emissions equipment is working and you pass the visual you will be ok.

so basicly you have to fix them problem.

you dont know exactly which code it is? is it the 420, cat below efficiency? if it is a caspers sime will fix the problem.

i know in jersey that if it's 96 or newer the run odb2 tests on it .Meaning that even if you clear the codes just before you go it will fail because the drive cycle has not completed . Wich could take as long as fifty miles . I don't know how pa is though.

An Actron scanner is a great investment that will come in handy any time you get a code. Costs about $150. You'll have it forever. Go to Autozone or Advance Auto Parts for one.
Scan the code, fix the problem, clear the code, then get it inspected.

Yes, that code will be stored in the computer even after the problem is fixed, so if you want it out of there, you'll have to use a different software program or have the dealership clear it out. Stored codes are NOT an issue when it comes to inspection. Only the SES light with a present code. I use both the Actron Scanner (handheld, easy to use) and Autotap (for more detailed readings and clearing codes) on a laptop.

I have a sim that I'm looking to sell since I have Hp tuners now. It worked perfectly when I had it on and I just took it off like 2 weeks ago. I'll give you a good price if you're interested. Let me know
