    Random Cylinder Misfire

    I've got a 99 3.8 a4.. i got a blinking SES light while i was driving my car.. it started to sound funny, idle funny and driving sluggish. The light blinked a few times then settled into a solid light. I ran HPTuners and got that code. Theres a lot of KR.

    I had this problem a few weeks ago but I got some NGK Tr6s in there because I thought the problem was with my platinum plugs.

    I have run a 75 dry shot of nitrous in the car in the past and the car only has 59k miles. Can anyone help me out. the problem is pretty intermittent.

    Check all your spark plug wires to make sure they're not burnt.

      i replaced the plugs a week ago NGK Tr6s..

      i'm scanning on hptuners and i saved a log, if anyone wants to see it (i'm unable to decypher it) let me know, I will send it to you

      EDIT: The problem is on bank 1. Maybe burnt plug wires are to blame...

        Theres a screenshot of my log while the car was running.. see the KR in Bank 1? What could cause this?

          kr is usually caused by too much timing / bad fuel / running lean / false knock.
          A little bit of KR is expected from a stock tune (I've seen 1 person,
          I think it was Shenanigans/mustangeater where his stock tune had no KR).

          I'm getting p0300 too. I think its from running lean though, and that will be fixed soon.

            i've been scanning recently and the cyl. 5 misfire code comes up now instead.. I pulled the plug and checked the wires and everything looks great.

            Still messed up though. would a bad coil only affect one cyl?

            Anyways, its at the dealer now. I had to give in as I do not have toe tools or the know how to do any of this.

              my brother's car just recently had a bad coil and only one cylinder was misfiring. Replaced the coil and it worked great again

                replaced the coil! Works awesome now.. funny thing is, the coil went bad at the track while spraying nitrous... is this common of just a coincidence?
