I dunno if this is the proper section, i thought either here or the lounge. Alright, ive been kinda curious as to what other peoples MPH are when they shift from 1st to 2nd, 2nd 3rd, and 3rd 4th, and 4th to 5th. This is purely just for comparison too. For me and my 3.23 T5 setup i usually shift at about 5800rpm. On my first shift 1st to 2nd, im going about 37 mph and to 2nd to 3rd about 57mph, and 3rd to 4th about 95mph, and 4th to 5th a little over 120mph. Im just trying to see where everyone elses mph are at these shifts.

Originally posted by Harrisonhaha i appreciate that, but i need the axle ratios for a 3.23 5-speed not the a4. I wouldnt assume they use the same ratios do they?

Re: mainly for t5 people, but auto too, whats ur mph when shifting
You made it seem like those numbers were for an automatic? Viper even assumed you were talking about the A4 and not my T5? I guess your saying i only have a 4 speed, and my 5th gear is OD, which is a weird way of saying it? I took 4-speed with OD as an automatic? Then based on the numbers you gave me to plug in, my axle ratio of 3.23, and my 245/50-16 tires, my read out is as follows.
At 6000rpm, 1st =38mph 2nd=65mph 3rd=101mph 4th=142 5th=197mph. Those numbers dont make a whole lot of sense. 1st through 3rd are sort of reasonable, but 4th and 5th are out of the ballpark and across the street.... On MY car, 1st goes to about 37, 2nd goes to about 57, 3rd=95 and 4th=125ish, and 5th, never gotten that far. Doesn't make much sense, that i would be falling short on those numbers if they are "correct". Especially with whats on my car, i should probably overshoot those numbers?? Can anyone make sense of that?Last edited by Harrison; 04-30-2006, 11:01 PM.Black 1996 3.8 Firebird T5, SLP CAI, Pacesetter Ceramic Headers,160* t-stat, PCMforLess Tune, Flowmaster American Thunder catback, Car Sounds Cat, custom s-pipe, MSD coils and wires, NGK plugs, 3.42 posi rear, B&M Ripper, 245/50 BFG-G-force's

Re: mainly for t5 people, but auto too, whats ur mph when shifting
You notice she gave you 5 numbers, not four.
Hypothetically speaking, 5th gear could take you up to 197 mph. Our cars do not have enough power to do that. Thats why 4th and 5th seem outrageous.Black \'94 Trans Am A4- SLP CAI & Loudmouth<br />Red \'93 Firebird A4- Ram Air under the WS6 hood, !cat, exhaust.
