Is there any signs that you can tell when the MAF is failing.

Car runs rough, poor gas mileage, won't start or stay running, etc.
Have it checked first because it can start becoming REAL expensive if you don't get it right. There are too many other sensors or relays that could cause the same symptoms. Have it scanned. A bad MAF will throw codes like p0100,p0101,p0102,p0103.

I had it scanned and code P0102 came up..Does that mean I need to replace it? Also code 1514 and 1516 came up..Would those codes come show because of the code 0102

Thats a Low Frewuency code. I'd probably start looking for a replacement MAF.
As for the other two codes, I have no idea...

If the MAF died or what ever happens to them if they stop working..would it keep the car from starting?

Well, it will run like crap (IF it runs at all), and it MAY start a chain-of-events by ruining other sensors, relays, valves and devices.

Fix the problem now or spend alot more later...
