Try spraying injector cleaner into the body and wiping it out with a cloth.

I think you should just take it off and clean it though. It's really pretty easy. Take off the throttle cable guide and disonnect a few sensors and take off the bolt and two nuts. Really pretty easy, but make sure to get a new gasket for it if you take it off.

But with the TB out it's much easier to clean and you can be much more thorough.

By the spring I assume you mean the throttle line return mechanism. No, that comes right off with the TB. You will have to unhook the throttle cable from the TB though. It's really simple though. Remove the air cleaner assembly, unplug the sensor connectors, take off the throttle line, and you're ready to unbolt. Just a little coolant will drip out of the TB when you get it off. That's ok.

With no instructions or anything, I took the TB off in about 30 minutes with no problems at all. I was 17 at the time.
