  • The squeak from hell.....

Hello everyone, Im on the verge of insanity. My rear end has a squeak which is driving me nuts, sometimes you barely hear it. Other times you hear it CLEARLY, Ive done everything I can possibly think of. Ive sprayed well over 2 cans of white lithium grease back there, and tightened every bolt I can find. I took it to my dads dealership (friggin chrysler) they did a lube job, they even resurfaced my rotors thinking it may have been my rotors could of been a little warped. Then today out of complete desperation I swapped the spare on, it seemed as if the squeak went completely away. I have 16x8 cragars wheels on it normally, I just dont know why a friggin wheel would squeak! I checked the lug nuts, sprayed WD40 on the threads. The car was in an accident where the frame bent, but it was fixed professionally and back to factory spec, even had it checked out several times and they all agreed it was fixed very well. I dont know what else to do, and it really sucks. Any ideas? Suggestions? Did I miss anything? Thanks ;D

    Re: The squeak from hell.....

I'm not sure exactley what kind of squeak you have, but our spare tires squeaking in their holder is very common. Since it stopped when you put on your spare I would throw your cragars back on and not put away the spare. Test drive it and see if that helps.

      ^^^ What he said.

I wrapped my jack handle in a rag to stop the squeak.

I've got a squeak back there too. Seems to be on the rear pax side. It's a very mild squeak but enough to constantly bug you.

I removed the spare and jacking equipment with no luck.

Lubed passenger door thinking the latch and striker where the problem. Also lubed all possible door contact points. Again no luck.Still squeaking!

Kinda seems to be in the pillar area behind the stereo speaker.

This is one of those things that will probably haunt me for years before I figure it out!!

I dont have the spare or jack in the car, so that definatly isnt the problem. Im almost 1,000% sure its coming from my wheel area even possibly the LCA. I open the door slightly while Im driving and its almost like I can reach back there and touch what ever is squeaking. So its almost definatly very near the wheel, I hate squeaks :\.

I pulled the stereo speaker and the interior panel and found a loos styrofoam insert in the molded armrest area. A-HA! (I thought) This is it! Using duct tape I covered the whole thing and put it back in place. Being quite proud of myself, I confidently re-assembled the panel and speaker. I didn't even get halfway down the driveway before I could hear that squeak again!

AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGG!!! (heard by the passengers of a jet passing overhead at 40,000 ft)

When you nail it down definitely let us know, cause I want to look there on my car!

Well I knows for sure mine is coming from the rear end, very near the wheel, on the driver side. When I find it, Ill let you know and how I fixed it.

Here's a hypothetical question. If you found a fortune teller who could tell you EXACTLY what this squeek was, how much would you pay for that information?
