  • Another Camaro not starting

Alright, sorry for making another thread about a f-body that wont start. But I already used the search feature and went through some tests and checked stuff out but everything seems alright.

    The motor cranks.
Has sparks.(Took out a spark plug and tried starting it with the plug leaning on a metal part. It sparked fine)
Has fuel. (Took out one of the injectors and fuel poured out the fuel rail. Can hear the fuel pump turn on when starting. Smells gas after I crank it couple of times.)
Has air? (Right now, its open throttle body to make sure that turbo isnt restricting air flow. It should be getting air unless the intake manifold is clogged or something.)
Battery is fully charged. (Optima Red top that has been on the trickle charger overnight)

Then, I tried starter fluid spray thing, didn't work. Battery is fine since I could keep it cranking for like 2 minute straight till it dies. Also, I tried giving it some gas while its cranking and it backfired. So, it must be getting fuel and sparks for sure. I also tried putting different coils on. No go. I don't think the exhaust is clogged because its just straight turbo downpipe. Unless its the turbo thats clogged? I'm stumped.

Maybe recheck all your wires and such and make sure everything is where it should be. Crank sensor, and other related timing sensors to make sure they're plugged in as well. Check the obvious then discriminate.

yea i had a problem starting mine up too. i took it to the shop and they did a couple test and couldnt find anything based off of the tests, but the guy was telling me there were ignition wires behind the steering wheel that might be acting up. so that could be a problem. and i also think he said it might be the chip in the key too in combination with the wires.

the thing with the chip or wires would cause no crank, no start. Not cranking but no start. did you pull anymore than just one plug?

if you smell gas when cranking, your engine is flooded.

try holding the gas pedal all the way down, and crank it.

it will take a while but it will eventually start

today, I'm gonna ride my bicycle to autozone and get a new fuel filter(It hasnt been replaced in like 2 years so, that might be it) and a compression tester. Hopefully the motor isnt toasted.

Hey, I tried that again and it worked!!
                    Thanks alot! :)

Heres is what I think the problem was. My car has been burning oil at startup for quite some while now. Oil keeps seeping into the cylinders while the car is sitting and when I start it up, it usually burns the oil off. But, this time, I think there was so much oil in the cylinders, it caused it not to cause an combustion in the cylinders. When it finally started up, there was blueish white smoke coming out the tailpipe for good couple minutes.

that sounds like a valve seal problem
