How can I tell if a belt is going or the pullys need to be greased? I'm hearing some kind of whine only during idle from the serpentine (I think) belt or in its very close proximity but I can't tell exactly what it is. I checked the belt and from a brief look I could see a few very tiny cracks on the part that touches the pully but nothing big. When I hit the gas everything sounds just as it should. I noticed this after going to a carwash with hardcore high pressure. Not sure if it did this before as the radio is usually on, but its quite a coincidence. Anyways, any ideas? Its not loud at all. I've had the timing belt go on my 87 firebird and I remember how loud that was. Doesn't matter how warm or cool the engine is either.
