  • Car Wont Start!

I had trouble starting my 96 camaro this morning. I went out to start the car and turn the key and nothing not even a click or a try to start. Everything was lite up so there was plenty of power. The two things that I did notice were that the red secrity light was blinking and the orange sercurity symbol was lite up on the gage cluster. I disconected the battery and left it for twenty min. and reconnected and the same results. I think it could have to do with the security system or the chip reader that reads the key is going. This has happend once before and after a while it started. Any ideas?

Clean your key thoroughly with rubbing alcohol, and spray a short shot of electrical contact cleaner into the ignition lock. You can get it at any Radio Shack.

sounds pretty dead on with you needing a new lock cylinder. try what Publican said but if that doesnt work, take it to a dealer to be checked out.

Is there anyway that it could be the starter?

well I got the car started. I disconnected the computer connections and saw epoxy dust so I spraied electrical cleaner and reconnected nothing. Did it agian to see what wire goes to the key to connect a volt meter to see if it is sending power to eliminate that, and it started go figure.
