Re: low compression after H/G swap

    those are extreamly low numbers

even with my low CR mine are all 145-150

pull the fuel injectors fuse and crank the car a few times in each cylender... thats what i did.... also make sure you push the gas down all the why

the motor should be warm when doing this....

if you put iol in clyc buy way of spark plug hole and the number get better its your rings

Re: low compression after H/G swap

ya, my normal psi is 170-180psi
what could ruin the piston rings? could overheating/running lean?
i dont need to push the gas down, because my dumba$$ should've taken off the throttle body completely. Its kinda hard to put oil in the spark plug holes cause the cylinders are kinda aimed downward.
I keep cranking till I know the psi isnt gonna go any higher (like 7 or more).
I love your dyslexia andrew! I understand perfectly :)
      Thanks for the help!

Re: low compression after H/G swap

if you over heat the engine you can take the rings out quite easly . running lean can burn them up to . it's just a matter of how long you run it and how hot it gets

Re: low compression after H/G swap

I've never seen blue smoke from the exhaust
I checked the compression again with the TB open(full throttle) and I still get the same readings...
looks like my head gasket has a leak on every cylinder

ya forgot to check it on plate glass cause they looked good.
I need to find an oil can to spray oil in.

Re: low compression after H/G swap

dont put too much oil in there ;)
just a couple squirts from an oil can will do. your just to trying to seal the rings to try to determine your problem. I dont think you understand what a cylinder leakage tester is. what it does, is inject air into your cylinder to allow you to listen to the exhaust, intake, oil fill tube, or anywhere else to help you know where you are losing compression. so, if you here it coming from your oil fill tube, you would have a good idea if your rings are bad, or if you have a hole in your piston. :p likewise, if you here is coming from the intake, your intake valves are not closing. so on and so forth.

Re: low compression after H/G swap

so I should just hook up my air compressor to each cylinder one at a time? thats easy

Re: low compression after H/G swap

yeah, basically. the tester shows how much compression you are losing which souldnt be over 10% but if you find something that will hook up to your hose and thread into your spark plug hole, you should be able to achieve the same affect so hear for a leak.

Re: low compression after H/G swap

never had blue smoke from exhaust and never noticed any oil loss.
when I try to start the car, or do a compression test... usually the Oil PSI on the stock gauge goes to 60 just cranking.

should I try to do the leak-down test first, before putting oil in the cylinders and doing a compression check? i think so

oh yeah, and this 7.5gal 2.5hp pre-oiled compressor only goes up to like 100 psi.

                            that pressure is fine.

Re: low compression after H/G swap

is a leak down test the same thing as a compression test?
i think its completely different. I think you hook up your compressor to your cylinder. I went to autozone asked for a leak
down tester and they gave me a compression tester which i already have.
so is a leak down tester anything more than just a fitting to hook your compressor up to the cylinder?
