Re: low compression after H/G swap

a leak down tester is different. If you want while your waiting to figure out getting the tester thing, go ahead and put some oil in there and see what happens with the compression test. if you can find a fitting to go into your spark plug hole, it will work and you can go ahead with that. it should not put out too much pressure. when you do the leak down test, you will want that cylinder your working on to be at top dead or bottom dead center on the compression strock so both valves are closed. if you have it on top dead center, you will want to hold your crank with a wrench or seocket so it doesnt move down.

Re: low compression after H/G swap

I'm having trouble believing that the compression in all the cylinders have been lost and the numbers that you are seeing are accurate. You would of had to have done something seriously wrong during the installation for the new gaskets to fail so quickly and completely!

Even with compression numbers that low across the board you should still be able to get the engine to run, although not well, and it probably wouldn't idle.

So, I'm thinking that something else is up. Fuel delivery or ignition.

The only other thing that I can think of that would cause low compressions in all cylinders is a skipped timming chain. In that case the valves are not closing at the right time and cylinder pressures are affected because of it.
