What is better a Hypertech programmer III or jet stage 2 chip.
What is better a Hypertech programmer III or jet stage 2 chip.
Hi
I'm thinking of buying a programmer or chip for my 01 camaro. The thing is I'm a beginner in tuning so I would like you guys to tell me what is best thing to buy for a beginner? Is a Hypertech programmer III better than a jet stage 2 chip, or vice versa?
Re: What is better a Hypertech programmer III or jet stage 2 chip.
I am new to this also BigRalph, but from what I have read on this site the order seems to goes like this:
Best - Mail order tune, you will be with out your pcm for a approx. a week depending on where you live and what shipping you pay for
Not as Good - Jet Chip Stage II, good for new guys like us as it is "plug and play", the gains are most likely not as big as a mail order tune but you can install the chip in 15 minutes and you can drive away
Hypertech and other "tuners" seem to be for guys with a lot more experience, learning to "tune" can take some trial and error
Personally, I have a Jet Chip Stage II on my 3.4L Camaro, it works great for me as a daily driver, you can notice the difference with the chip in but it by no means is going to make your car a dragster. So it comes down to what your goals are. Hope this helps.

I have not been on a dyno, so I don't know for sure how many horsepower I gained. That is a difficult thing to estimate also, everyones butt dyno is a little diiferent.

eh it depends. id say a week. but keep in mind you have to send them your pcm. check out fastchips.com also IIRC they will send you a tuned pcm and once you recieve it you just take your stock one and send it back to them. dont hold me to that but im pretty sure they do that.
