Re: has anyone done an ac elimination
i removed my ac, but left the compressor in for the time being
I'm not sure if you'd have to get the idler braket or not, i dont have a 3.4
and I dont even know if I have to get an idler for my 3.8
its easy, straight forward... just rip it out ;)2k2 camaro, K&N, SLP whisper lid, Konis, AEM, HP Tuners, Angel eyes/Halos, CF SS ram air hood, 4.10s, Zexel Torsen, UMI SFCs, CrossFire, BFGs, Gatorback, Catco, Flows, and TLC! DONT feed the Trolls!

Re: has anyone done an ac elimination
I removed the whole AC unit from my Firebird, and I did buy an AC delete bracket. There are some availiable for both the 2.4l and the 3.8l, but from what I can tell they come from two seperate people.1995 Pontiac Firebird

Re: has anyone done an ac elimination
you might want to take it to a shop to get them to vent the freon..otherwise you'll vent it into the ozone and that will cause little baby seals to die2k2 camaro, K&N, SLP whisper lid, Konis, AEM, HP Tuners, Angel eyes/Halos, CF SS ram air hood, 4.10s, Zexel Torsen, UMI SFCs, CrossFire, BFGs, Gatorback, Catco, Flows, and TLC! Re: has anyone done an ac elimination
you can run a shorter belt. i can't remember what length i used, but i was running a shorter belt to bypass my compressor before i brought it in to get fixed. if you have time, you can go to an auto parts store and buy a few different sizes and just use trial and error. or, loop a rope around the projected path to bypass the compressor and measure the length. i didn't have much time, so i dropped it off to my mechanic and he threw a new one on (somewhere around 62" i THINK). the belt worked for a few months then snapped...i don't think the belt was the highest quality b/c the tension of the belt seemed fine. still, its something to consider. i don't believe you can use a belt from a non-a/c 3.4L car because i think they might have an idler pulley.i\'m not an ambiturner.
