I've got a 97 Camaro v6, and my hatch has the rear defrost lines, it's also got the clips to the lines on either side of the glass. I've got the Harness that plugs into where the defrost button would go on the HVAC panel, and on the panel there is a hole for the switch on the back, but it's not punched out. Do all cars have all the options, just without the actual switch to activate the defogger? Or has my HVAC panel been replaced for one without the switch?

Re: HVAC/Defrost question?
I believe that some base model 4th gen Camaro's did not come with a defrost unit. Checked out some used models on Autotrader.com and look at the pictures. A lot of the power windowless, power lockless, power mirrorless, steel wheel, plastic wheel cover wearing f-bodies do not have defrost strips.
My guess is that your hatch was replaced at some point. It is highly unlikely that your dash parts were replaced unless someone took a baseball bat to them.
I hope this makes sense.

in the south where it rarely gets cold, they have no need for rear defoggers.. my car came from SC, and it doesnt have them.. although my car is pretty much a base model with power locks

Re: HVAC/Defrost question?
I would suggest taking the panel off back by the rear glass and see if there are wires hiding in there. I would bet they use the same wiring harness for all of the cars, so the wiring may be there... you just need to hook it up. On my 2002, there is a purple wire on the passenger side and black (so ground) on the driver side.2002 Silver Firebird A4
T-Tops, Leather, Y87, W68, Chrome Wheels
Bone Stock
