            Re: headlights

theres a much easier way to get around this...
im assuming you want to control your lights with the knob...

put your parking brake up on the lowest notch, it shouldnt be engaged at all

you have to do this before you turn the car on, and you must be sure the parking "brake" light is on

easier... maybe, better, no, shorting out the circuit will just bypass the sensor and make the car think its daylight out all the time, with no brake light on the dash, and no adverse affects

                Re: headlights

Im sure if there is a lock there to hold the parking brake, then there is contact. I would recommend you go the other way. also, this isnt just a canadian car thing, its all f-bodies

is the wiring there for the firebird, just without the sensor, because i would like to have auto headlights

                      Re: headlights

I think so yes. do you not have the little black ball sticking out of your dash vent area? if not, the sensor is there but i wonder if your BCM needs to be tweeked to recognize the system. i know with a tech 2, you can change the BCM options which i would guess this would be one of them

i think it just has the wire without the sensor interrupting it, i dont see why they didnt put it on the bird? but i think i will raid a junk yard and find a sensor amongst other things

                          Re: headlights

pull out the radio and you'll see the sensor, just disconnect it; not all that hard takes maybe 10mins to do (i did it on my car)

well blldogg, i took of that dash piece and found where the sensor should be, but no obvious wiring harness, if you wouldnt mind this would be a pretty good research project for you, considering you do have all the resources (diagrams etc...) just see what you can come up with
