You shouldn't have any probelms, just make sure it's secured down well.

To ventilate the box / area is not a bad idea either, some batteries produce gases you don´t want inside the car.

I haven´t had any problems now for nearly 3 years and thanks to 100Ah i never ran out of power... ;)

or to make room under the hood, for stuff.

ie, harlans turbo kit, or in my situation, i could install a large air/water IC in the battery location.

I would use at least 0 gague wire, if you ever drive the car upnorth, in the winter. 3 might be ok, for warm starting, but i would run 0 or 00 if it was my car ;)

They make kits for our cars that have everything you need to safely relocate the battery to the rear where the spare tire goes. I'm sure someone will chime in and tell us where to find it. I've been out of the whole modding scene for a while and I don't remember where to find it. I know you can buy a generic kit from summit but there is an f-body specific one out there.

By the time you lose the spare, have to add all of that heavy wiring, and bother with a new mount and box, you've lost just about any gain you would have netted. Go with one of the $25 Hawker Genesis batteries (weighs 10 lbs or so, EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE EXPENSIVE DYNABATTS!) and just let it sit in the engine compartment. Works for me!

I believe the point is to move more weight to the back of the car instead of having it in the front. It helps with weight transfer when you launch. The more weight you have in the back versus the front the better your tires are gonna grip.

Would it perhaps be possible to use one of these kits to mount a SECOND battery, such as for stereo purposes, in that same spot? I really would like to add a second battery, because of my voltage drain, but I have absolutely no room to put it in the back.

If you're concerned about needing more power then I suggest you get one of those red top batteries. I forget the brand, I'll look it up and post as soon as I find it.

Here you go. It's Optima and you'll want the yellow top battery. http://www.optimabatteries.com/produ...ycle/index.asp

It's inteded for SUVs and cars with stereo stystems/hydrolics.

                          Thanks for the link.

My original idea was to add an Optima Yellow Top as the second battery. Will simply replacing my standard battery with a Yellow Top do the trick?

if your running a big stereo, get (i know this is spelled wrong) capasitators, is takes a few seconds but they act as another battery and you wont have to buy an expensive battery ever or run down your old ones, i think they cost around a little over $100, but they wont loose to much value and you wont have to rebuy expensive batteries later. if it ever comes around you can always sell it for about the same price if you take care of it. check ebay

you asked if there were any problems, the only problem that i've heard/read is charging, make sure its a good battery and your alt. is good, and use at least 0 gauge wire...
