I'm trying to get two things ironed out. First, I'm gonna put a cold air intake on my car, and I was wondering if you guys had a suggestion. I was leaning towards the SLP kit on slponline.com that comes with smooth bellows and whatnot, but I hear good things about the one by Whisper Motorsports.

Also, could someone give me a basic definition of Limited Slip Differential? People have explained to me in terms of how it works, but I don't understand what difference it would make in my car's performance.

Sorry, car hardware isn't my thing yet.

the LSD allows both wheels to spin, basically an open differential is 1 wheel drive, but a lsd when 1 wheel begins slipping it transferrs load to the other wheel, so they are both turning, not just the 1 wheel burning out, just improved traction

both cold air kits are excellent choices. Def. get a lid and cold air kit for your car, great first mods.

LSD plants the power to both tires instead of one, so you gain performance because the power is getting to the ground evenly and not overpowering one tire.

And therefore probably more even tire wear. Thanks fellas.

more even tire wear if you are spinning your tires. other than that, during normal driving, you would see normal wear anyways.

basically, what is refered to as an open diff (non LSD), all you power is transfered to one wheel. so, if you had that wheel on ice and the other one on dry ground, you would go nowhere. but, if you have LSD, the tire on the dry ground would allow you to continue moving. it is great for traction during racing. maybe that will help you image what is going on better.
