I'll just chime in and say that the power windows while convienient really aren't GREAT. They are indeed slow as hell and my passenger motor is just about dead. It works only when it wants to so I dont even bother rolling it down anymore. But if you're going to go with non stock parts then you may have a better time.

I'm not doubting that your window crank was bad. It happens. But power window motors die too- they aren't invincible. I can honestly say that I've seen a far greater number of power window motors die than I have window cranks especially on vehicles that have the larger sized windows. Usually on a manual window when the crank comes off you either put it back on or grab a pair of vice grips and grab the metal shaft and roll the window up that way if the crank falls off completely and won't go back on. With a dead power window motor, there is no way to operate the window at all.
I can come up with arguments all day to present my side of the argument and I am sure you can too. I'm not saying your opinion is wrong but it just does not make sense to me since there are other things on your car which are not only prone to failure but if left open require you to pull over while driving anyways. My main gripe with power windows is that there is no backup in case of a dead motor. At least with power locks if the battery dies or the solenoid fails to function I can still operate the lock button by hand or with the key.

sorry, haven't checked the board in a while. the kit for windows from a1electric is like 250. add on the stock switches and panels, i'd say about 300 or 320.2000 pewter firebird
Short Throw Shifter, Whisper Lid, Whisper Ram Air, Holley Filter, B&B Triflo, LSD, BMR LCA, STB, PHR, and sway bars (32/21).
Power window conversion

btw... I take my t-tops off while my seatbelt is on and I am in the driver seat all the time... once again being 6'5" with a reach has advantages...
And for what its worth, my 94, has 130k on it when I sold it and the cranks were perfect. Car stores sell them in the "help" section if you ever lose one.-Eric
2000 NBM V6 Camaro 5-speed T-top converted
14.467@95.45mph $0 in mods
The member formerly known as MustangEater8251
