  • FUEL RAIL VACUUM LOCK?

I was reading up on possible reasons for a few problems i have. Saw something about running out of gas and maybe getting vacuum lock in the fuel rail. I have some kind of vacuum problem and it all started around the time i ran out of gas for the first time a few weeks ago.

When i try to relieve the pressure through the shrader valve nothing comes out. With the gas cap off or on. I searched, but couldnt find anything so any info is appreciated on symptoms of this as well as where to find more info or if you know why no fuel would come out.

Sounds like a bad fuel pump to me. Id change it and and the filter and go from there.

Running out of gas is hard on the fuel pump and fuel injectors. By running out of gas you may have sucked up any or all of the crud in the bottom of the tank. (water, rust, small pieces of dirt, etc.) So the fuel filter could be clogged. If that doesnt work, check the fuel pump fuse. If that doesn't work. Turn the key over while the car is in a qarage or car wash. Somewhere quite. You sould be able to hear the pump cycle on. If not the pump may be gone.

Does the car run at all?

i have a lot of things needing work all at the same time, so i dont know which are related. I am taking it to a shop but the cost is unreal so i want to fix eveything i can first.

Yes the car runs. It does run poorer when the tank is right above E. I have changed the fuel filter 2 times and ran lucas through it. When i put it in run it does the 2 second prime. When running i hear a faint buzz between the tail pipes, which i hear is normal. The idle is a little lopey. I also changed the pcv valve a couple weeks ago and i will recheck the oring. It sound like what i imagine avacuum leak sounding like. I dont know if i may have a bad 02 sensor or not. I have a ticking around the fuel rail schrader valve.

I figured it was some kind of vacuum problem because of the lopey idle, overall noiser running car. I also have a seperate fuel issue i believe where the car runs rougher when low on gas, but maybe i just had bad gas. I switched last time i filled.

I am cleaning the TB tonight. I also had the black piece by the throttle body come lose and retightened it with no sealant so maybe thats it.

If you buy the spray cleaner, spray around the where the intake meets the heads and where the throttle body meets the intake. If the engine speeds up by itself, this means you have a vaccum leak where you sprayed.

Also spray where the injectors go into the engine. Could have bad seals.
