Ok here is the problem. On a 01 3.8 5 Speed i have tried turning this thing like crazy and it doesnt budge. its the stock knob and shifter. you can turn it so hard the shifter will start to turn. i stopped b/c i scared to break it. im thinking the person before super glued it or something or am i doing something wrong???? is there a retaining pin or something??? thanks

It screws off. Try clamping the shaft so it doesn't turn while your unscrewing the knob.
This is a Tremec T-5, correct? Just screw it harder(that's what she said). That's because the stock shifter is a POS, you're better off breaking it. But I agree, just turn it harder until it finally breaks loose. It DOES screw off so you really don't have many optionsOriginally posted by Neal:
