I've been fighting a high idle problem (1500-2000) for some time now and I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I think it has to do with the ecm because if I was to unhook the battery and then hook it back up the problem would be temporarily fixed but it always comes back. Another thing I need to ask is that if anyone has ever had trouble with their power steering pulley squeaking and how did they take care of it. Your guidance is much appreciated.
thanks
Mike

Could be your IAC (Idle Air Control) valve located on the throttle body. It's actually located just above the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) just behind where the black plastic intake hose attaches to the TB at the front of the intake manifold. It's about $80 or so to replace, & you can test it with an ohmeter to see if it's working properly or not. Might want to pick up a Hayne's manual or something along those lines to help you, & if it's not the problem, it can help you diagnose other possible causes, as well.

I second the IAC Valve. I had the same problem with the idle, and the IAC replacement fixed it. I went to Autozone and got the IAC for less than $35.00. Worked, and still works great.
Thanks for the input. So what is required to do the job of putting it in? I do most of my own work but I just don't want to do any more than is needed.
Thanks,
Mike

All you have to do is unplug it, then take out the two screws that hold it in. Pull it out and put the new in. Also, instead of buying a new one, you might want to first try cleaning it. Just pull it out and spray the plunger-looking thing down with some carb/throttle body cleaner. That took care of my problem.
