  • Door Seal

When I bought my Camaro a few months ago I noticed it was a tad noisey on the driver side window, no big deal. Then I took it to the Auto Carwash and when it sprayed on that part of the window water came in....OH GREAT! So I don't do that anymore, but I was wondering how hard it is to replace that seal around the door. I tried stuffing some thin rags inside of it, to push it tighter to the glass, but it seems to loose its tightness over time. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

    Re: Door Seal

If the water at the car wash was high pressure, and spraying directly at the top window seal, then there is nothing wrong. Been that way for me since I took my car off the showroom floor. I avoid high pressure car washes, and also keep a small towel under the seat just in case.

      Re: Door Seal

I've got the same problem in my 98 Camaro. I replaced my window motor because it was dead, and with the door panel off I noticed these two metal brackets with felt on them. These metal brackets push the window into place as it slides up and down. One of mine was broke off, but if it was intact I could of tightened it up a little to make it seal better. Sorry if this isn't a very good description, but if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Mine has that same problem with the two tabs with the felt. The felt part is broken off and the window sort of sags inward when I have it roll down. No biggie I got used to it like that since thats how it was when i bought it. However, I think my passenger side window is about to die.....o well.....sh*t happens.

Savory, if I were you I would take out the remaining piece of the metal bracket ASAP. It will literally gouge a line up and down your glass over time. Happened to me first hand, ruined a perfect tint job.

So do you think it is a window thing, or a seal thing?
