Re: think of takeing out a/c
I did a !a/c and just use the vent. I never even ever used the a/c anyways.
Well, it was turned on like 4 times since I bought the car new in 2001. Porsches come stock with no a/c, but thats another story2k2 camaro, K&N, SLP whisper lid, Konis, AEM, HP Tuners, Angel eyes/Halos, CF SS ram air hood, 4.10s, Zexel Torsen, UMI SFCs, CrossFire, BFGs, Gatorback, Catco, Flows, and TLC! Re: think of takeing out a/c
The weight savings to it are so small I wouldn't do it unelss going all the way, and it doesn't cost you anything over .1 hp on the weight of the free wheel when its not being used.
I thought about taking mine out because I have t-tops and I live in Minnesota, but then figured it doesn't weigh that much and the free moving wheel isn't robbing me of power.1995 Camaro 3.4 A4

CAI,IAT Relocate

Re: think of takeing out a/c
it may not be a rotating mass hp drainer. But it does take off weight on the front end. Yes, some of us actually have problems gettting traction off the line, so it helps with our hole shots.2k2 camaro, K&N, SLP whisper lid, Konis, AEM, HP Tuners, Angel eyes/Halos, CF SS ram air hood, 4.10s, Zexel Torsen, UMI SFCs, CrossFire, BFGs, Gatorback, Catco, Flows, and TLC! But I don't know how much it weighs I do know that when you are going all out that every ounce matters, just wanted to make sure someone wasn't making a mistake just because they didn't use it.
Just FYI-
When people do go all out on weight removal, there isn't an ash tray anyways :) or even a dash for that matter.1995 Camaro 3.4 A4

CAI,IAT Relocate

Re: think of takeing out a/c
hey if i ever want to sale my car i can always bolt everything back up it wont be a problem oh by the my floor mats and ash tray are out to :) like Nikos95 said ever ounce counts the thing i have out are front inpact bar,the foum stuff that around the inpact bar, sway bar, lift brakets, t-top holder, rear seat and seat belts and then theres these that make my car lighter auliminum drive shaft, firber glass hood, and auliminum roller rocker 1.9Last edited by Kal-El; 05-25-2006, 04:31 PM.2000 camaro rs:whisperlid, 2.5 magnaflow exhaust, catco high flow cat, fast toys cai, 3.73, 160 power stat, msd 8.5 wires ngk iridium spark plugs, hpp3, zzp w/p and alt. under drive pullies, 1.9 Rockers/LS6 Springs with ls1 retainers

"worry about ounces and the pounds will come" - Little G
i like the drivetrain/powertrain mods that make for lighter weight like that aluminum driveshaft and the aluminum rockers, those help alot. Maybe some 2000 corvette rims?2k2 camaro, K&N, SLP whisper lid, Konis, AEM, HP Tuners, Angel eyes/Halos, CF SS ram air hood, 4.10s, Zexel Torsen, UMI SFCs, CrossFire, BFGs, Gatorback, Catco, Flows, and TLC!
