tail light fuse burning up plz help

my tail light fuse is melting up everytime i put it in there, when it goes out, my dash lights go out to. my turnsignals,headlights and brake lights still work. does anyone know or have had this issure?? i have a 96 3.8 mannual tranny

check your connectors for your tail lights... see if they are corroded or messed up they coudl be wet and shorting out, maybe consider getting new sockets.

ok, checked it, pretty clean, i took the fuse pannel apart and found the wire thats getin hot, its not the "hot" wire but its the other wire that ur fuse connects to thats melting my fuses, anybody know?

Hmm.. do your taillights even turn on or does your dash just go out once u plug it in?

Hard to say, maybe some grounds are lose or the fuse is just plain bad

Have you or ne previous owners if ne done ne thing to it ?

ok, the fuses dont blow, they just get hot..now when i turn my parkin lights on there on but still hot but when i turn my head lights on they go off, along with the dash lights, this is reasy fusterating:(

i bet it is, my best guess is wires are crossed some where or you have an incomplete circuit on the last switch for lights and stuff.

Cuz the dash is like the only place you might find a series-parallel circuit

Also if the fuse or wires really get that hot, it probably means that the resistance in them is too weak for the amount of amps and/or current and they will probably go bad or melt quickly

I really think you should re post this or sumtin in the electronics area if you havent alredy or hopefully a electrition or someone sees this

ok, thanks, i was looken at the switch today and i found the orange wire that was getin hot, it was barly in the socket, is that a problem?? there was corosion arund it. should i replace the switch harness?

arighty then, i replaced the harness going into the headlight switch, but when i turn my parking lights on the taillights and dash lights work but when i turn my headlights on, my head lights work but my tail lights dont. anybody

i replaced the switch, still doin it, now i took apart the dash and resoderd a wired that was getin hot and had everything discondected, there was no dash, so i started the engion let it ran, no heat! im stoked, so then i conect everyting, and now im geting heat from the wire. wtf??

ok guys, u wouldnt believe this...if ur listing.. I found out the prob. and fixed it by pushing a switch, if ur interested in finding out what it was, leave a message..otherwise dont bother lol
