Re: Please help water behind drivers seat

im in your same boat. Its not raining right now. But when it does hard no matter if im on a hill facing downwards or on a flat. Water almost every time end up behind my drivers seat. And the sencond common place it will be is infront of my seat. And that is likea 75% chance that water is there if its in the back seat. I have only had water leak in front and behind the passenger seat a couple times, and isnt as common as the driver side. And yes, under the back seat is sometimes wet as well. My seals seem fine when i wash my car and ;slight water drips only sometimes get in, and isnt a big deal. I think im gunna start with my hatch weatherstripping and see if that helps. I think it might be running front the hatch down into the seats some CUTTY way.

let me know if that works.i would also replace the t-top gasket before the door gasket as that is what i replaced and it didn't make a difference.

you could close your door and sit in it, and have someone pour water and spray a hose on top of the car to at like rain. sit in there watch for leaks, feel around, take some plastic interior panels off if you have to

All T-tops and sunroofs will leak a little. They are designed however to let the water run out through a channel, rather than into the car. With the T-tops off, you can see a "trough" that will channel the water to the back and down the door seal.

What I would do is take the T-tops off, open the driver's door, and pour a cup of hot water into the trough and see where it goes. I would guess that the door seal either has a crack on the inside that it is leaking through, or that it is filled with dust and dirt not allowing it to flow well enough to drain fast enough. It should drain out through several slits along the bottom of your door.

Re: Please help water behind drivers seat

Ok, I had this same issue for about a year on my passenger side. EVERYTIME it would rain, a little, or a down pour, I would have about an inch or 2 of water. I called it my personal, portable pool.
I fixed this by going to Autozone and getting:

Weatherstrip <All the writing is in purplue> 5/16x3/4x10ft It is marked with Part# MW51634 I don't know if Autozone uses that number, or their own. No matter what, it was over with all the other weatherstripping, and silicone sealants.

I cut a piece that went from the center black strip, all the way to the door. Put it on kinda angled so the top would push right down on it. It stopped the leak right away! I was going to take some pictures this morning, but the camera was dead! I will charge it and take some pics.
I worked on this problem for like a year with using silicone. I was able to fix my drivers side with silicone, but the passenger side was being a b!#ch until I used this.

Re: Please help water behind drivers seat

It sounds like the water is leaking in at the back of the t-top area and running down your sail panel behind the plastic interior piece with the speaker grill in it then under the carpet.

With the t-top out, at the back corner, where the weather stripping meets the t-top and window, look where the weather stripping is screwed down and comes in contact with the C pillar. It sounds like the water is creeping in there and then running into your rear footwell. Squeeze some weather stripping adhesive in there and see if it doesn't fix your problem.

BUMP! Well I finally found the darn leak! Any of you guys having this same problem also check that your hood cable grommet for the firewall is all the way screwed in. I guess over the years mine became worn and backed out of the firewall and everytime it rains it has a channel of water pumping down the inside of the hood underneath the glass heading straight for it. Mine was not in at all anymore and made for a huge puddle in the back driver floorboard. Since the floorboard is unlevel and the back is further down the water would run down the little channels and fill it up first making it look like the water was coming in from the back. So glad to finally have found it!!!
