    Re: nasty idle :(

does it clunk when you floor it? Might be a blown out tranny if it clunks when floored or motor mount if during idle mainly.

Also does the car run fine though except the shaking?

Here is one quick cheap way to check for bad plug wires, boots or a short:
Pull into a dark garage or a car wash at night. Look for sparks or arcs of electric jumping from the wires to the engine.

I didn't mean bad tranny, I ment bad mounts like a tranny or motor mount.

              Could be:

              - an EGR valve that's not closing properly.

              - dirty fuel injectors. Clean ones improve idle quality substantially.

Check the plug wires at the coil. I had one post covered in rust but the rest were in good shape. It caused a rough idle & poor gas mileage.

Rough idle or failure to idle. :)

The easiest way that I know of to determine if the EGR is not closing properly would be to disconnect the tube that runs from the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve. Cover the tube so you don't get a face full of exhaust. Also cover the EGR port where the tube was attached. Start the engine and see if it runs better. If it does, then the EGR is the culprit. It it does'nt run better, the EGR is not your problem.

The best way to clean injectors is to remove them, clean them, then install them. Search the posts in this forum and you will find lots of techniques to use, all of which will work well.
