My car lately has been sounding like it has a loose muffler or loose catalytic converter, it rattles pretty badly during all gears and ussually at all rpm's. But the weird sound seems to be coming from the cat itself. It sounds like a somehwat squeaky belt in the cat, cept for teh fact that there is no such thing. Biut thats what it sounds like, is it clogged up or shot? thanks.

my '95 Jimmy does that too so i checked it out and it's probably the cat. sometimes after they get older they break apart inside the cat. if you want just cut the cat off and gut it out or buy a new one and do it yourself. not too hard by the way. and that should fix it. It's probably your heat shield around the cat. Mine makes a squeaking noise. If you have a lot of miles on your cat, I'd recommend replacing it with a high flow cat, and when you do cheak the heat shield. I think the carsounds cats are good, do a search and you should be able to find some more info on this.1999 Silverado- Bagged, colormatched and rollin on stock chrome 16\'s<br />Make love not war, hell do both, get married
