  • non-camaro question

hey I've got a 1997 Ford Escort as my beater for work and I just can't get the thing running nice...yeah i know its a Ford which might explain it. I guess I'll eventually bring it to the garage but I really try to do that as last resort. Anyway, I'm getting two codes, one says its running too rich, the other says its running too lean. I pulled the plugs out today and I've got white crud all over the plugs, which tells me that its running lean. I figure I get the too rich code because the computer tries to compensate for running too lean and overdoes it once in a while. Anyway, I'm likely going to check my oxygen sensor(s), but does anyone have any other ideas as to what might be causing this?

PS move this to 'other rides' if necessary.

My guess would be an O2 sensor or sensorS, depending on how many you have. A bad injector can also cause a problem like you described too.

all 4 plugs have white corrossion on them so its unlikely an injector problem.
