if the mileage is 80k plus i wouldn't use synthetic because it can make your car run worse.
Why do you say that?
I've got 100 K plus miles and I run Moble 1 10W30. Car runs great and gets very good gas milage.
Now Playing: \'99 Pewter Firebird, stock, bone stock, and nothing but stock, so help me God!
Comming attractions: K&N Filter, Lid Mod, Intake Bellows Smooth Pipe Mod.
I dream about: Forced Induction (TC or SC) or NOX (or both!)
I would change the coolant (green not orange) & the power steering fluid. Check the rear end for metal filings (stick a magnet in ) and if OK leave alone. Brake fluid doesn't need to be changed.

If you do change your fluid from dexcool to green make sure you flush out all of the dexcool first. Brake fluid needs to be changed if it is all brown.
Not in all cases can running synthetics in a high mileage car will it make it run worse but there is a good chance because the cleaning agents in synthics is so strong that it can brake up large chunks of built up oil and clog your pick up or get clogged up in the valve train. Honest truth straight from UTI instructors. but like i said it wont happen in every car or necessarily when you start using it right off but it can and if it does you're screwed.

This would have to be a very extreme case, like if someone never ever changed the oil and then converted to sythetic, or only ever used non AD oil (ashless dispersent or without detergents).
I seriously doubt that this would happen if the car had regular oil changes with a common brand (cause they all have detergents).

True, all oils have detergents in them but there is alot more detergents in synthetic oils. If you have ever tore down an engine with real high mileage (100k+) you would know that it is common to find some build up inside from oil.
