Correct, but when was the last time you changed the fuel filter (change it every 30K/3yrs)? How old are the coil packs (If they're stock... it's time for a-changin anyway)? Etc. Generally problems with these things will exhibit themselves when the TC is locked than not.
Basically, just put more pedal to the metal when you want to accelerate, and you'll keep the TC from locking up (the lockup threshold when accelerating w/ certain TPS is usually 2500 RPM). When you let go of the gas, it'll lock up and all will be well. Like I said, learn to master the 4L60E and you'll love it. Shift kits don't hurt either.

I agree with this also. Apparently my 98 Regal suffers from this as well, but a new reprogrammed PCM will take care of that.
