I´ve got my 3.8 just a couple of weeks ago. Naturally one likes to play a bit with a new toy. On my first tank of gas I had to stop for fuel after 200 miles or so, which was after not even two hours. I was constantly driving around 100 - 120 mph (I live in Germany). On that trip the mileage was 13.5 mpg!

Now, after I had the car for about 2000 miles the average mileage is 18 mpg.

I´m sure, if I drove like an old lady I could get 25 mpg, but where´s the fun?

BTW: Gas prices here in Germany for regular are currently close to 5.00 $ per gallon!!!!

I normaly get around 19-24, I once got up to 28, but I think even my milage could improve.

Normaly a tank lasts me 275 and then I get gas.

Horst, did you actually make it to 120 mph? I always thought our cars were governed at 115 mph. who knows what the point of governering a car at 115 is anyway, you would have to be crazy to want to go that fast on the streets here.

Mine tops out around 119. I also get around 275-315 a tank. I have had my car for 1 1/2 years so I think I might switch my spark plugs and wires soon.

Whats woth all the bad MPG? Most of my driving is highway and i am 18 so i drive pretty hard alot of the time. I average about 330-360 miles in a tank and my best was over 400 on my way to tampa from my house in bama. I have got into the mid 30's in mpg on my car. My average is in the upper 10's even with in town driving. Its a 96 3.8 auto. I had to put a new 97 3.8 and it gets almost as good of mileage.

I just recently bought my 00 firebird still stock with a K&N airfilter. heh only had it a month so no mod's as of yet. Just hit my best MPG last week of 28.9. 404miles on the trip meter with some in town driving and yes I have a rather heavy foot most of the time. I average around 27 as the sticker said, lowest was a sad but not to bad 19. It has 37,000 miles on the OD.

My fuel economy is great if Im not stuck going light to light in Tallahassee... On the highway I average 27-30. Around town lately I have been getting 15-17mpg but thats because I cant get out of 3rd gear in this town

                          Hi Jaymatic,

yes, I really go 125mph with my car, that is around 130mph on the speedo. Even with cruise control engaged.

The Camaros here in Germany are a special export version:

For some curious reason the engine rating is reduced to 193 hp. The top speed is limited to 125 mph, although the car could go faster. On the other hand the "Euro-Camaros" have a 3.42 rear end, limited slip differential,Z28 brakes, better tires and probably better suspension. The interior is different, too: They come with standard leather and Trans-Am seats. Mine drives fine at 125. Just the wind sucks the drivers side window a bit outwards, so that I get a nasty noise just behind my left ear.
