  • Big trouble with pass. door

OK, My passengers door has been sagging progressively worse for a few months now. I decided to see if I could figure out why. Hinges? Nope. The seam where the inner and outer door skins are joined has separated just above the top door hinge. The crack has spread almost 4 inches down the door. When you open the door, the weight of the door causes the separation to expand. I'm afraid that if I keep using the door it's gonna crack enough to cause the door to fall off. Maybe I can find a way to adhere the inner and outer skins back together in that spot? If anyone has had this happen and fixed it, please chime in.

look under the car. there is a pad for jacking up your car and right next to it is a tab piece from your fender. A lot of guys have problems with the gap getting bigger and it is because this piece next to the jack pad is bent from someone not properly jacking up the car to work on it. Check that first, my brother had a big gap and he bent it back into place and the gap was all better

No no no...you're misunderstanding. The inner and outer parts of the door are separating. Meaning where they were originally bonded is coming apart, if it is allowed to continue the outer door skin will just fall off. I need to find a way to rebond and reinforce the seam. I'll see if I can get a shot of it tomorrow, pics will help.

That happened to my drivers side door. I brought it to a body shop and they used a special fiberglass adhesive that worked great. in the mean time you might want to tape it up so it doesn't get any worse.

Your going to have to bond that seam back together. Reinforcing would be a good idea (applied to the inside of the door). Do not use some cheap 5 min. epoxy or polyethylene or polystyrene resins either. You need to using a proper structural epoxy system, like the types that West Systems make.
