My fuel gauge stays at full all of the time. Anyone have a clue? It really gets annoying having to continuosly reset my trip, not knowing exactly what my gas level is or how many miles to gallon my Camaro gets. And ideas and/or prices of repair?

My '99 did the same thing when it had a week left on warranty. The dealer claimed it was the sending unit in the fuel tank and replaced the entire unit, fuel pump and sending unit. They had to drop the tank, which requires the rear axle to be dropped, and the entire suspension to be disassembled. They told me if had paid it would have been $800-1000. Keep in mind that's the dealer price, so it might be less somewhere else. Truthfully, if it happened again, I'd just use the trip odometer and forget it. You probably will have to go through the trouble of changing the sending unit. If you can get to the pigtail from under the car you may be able to check the unit it a multmeter.Comment

I have done a lot of stuff to my car, including building an engine. Let me tell you, working inside the gas tank was one of the most PITA jobs I ever did. THe sending unit/fuel pump housing looks like something out of a sci fi movie. It is fragile plastic, and is Very expensive.
I was very nervous when I was installing my new fuel pump.
On the brite side, you do not have to drop out the rear axle to get the fuel tank out. Just unbolt the shocks and let the axle hang. Then take off the heat shield, four tank strap bolts< one in each corner> and then unbolt the filler neck flange.
