the other night i was driving home and my abs inop light came on. the light turned off the next time i started the car and hasn't come on since. ever since then my rear brakes make a clicking noise when i let off them from a stop. i haven't noticed if its making the noise when i'm moving, but it makes a really loud click when i let off from a stop. any idea what causes this? i haven't had time to put the car up in the air and check it out. please let me know if you know what this is, thanks.

Re: clicking from rear brakes
I had a similar problem on an old 86 T/A that I owned. I had the drums turned, new pads and a new spring kit installed and the problem went away. The old and worn spring kit didn't fully disengage the pads when I let off of the brake pedal and it made a loud click as I started to roll from a stop. Basically, the springs weren't strong enough to pull the pads back when they were pushed into the drum. Mine even did the clicking at low speeds, it freaked me out the first time I heard it.
If you have the money, time and space, upgrade to disk brakes. You'll be glad you did! Drum brakes blow!sigpic
