  • Got an oil leak and I don't know exactly where it's coming from...

As the title says, oil leak from who knows where. It's dripping down the oil pan onto the y-pipe and then the driveway which I have had to clean like 100 times now because of this. Anyone have an idea where it may be coming from or is my description to vague?

Yup... sounds like your main seal. Mine went out on my 3.4L and it leaked into my tranny... Not good... but also, I was missing my tranny mount b/c the people who did my clutch job forgot to put it back on... YEA!!! but the rear main will run you a couple hundred easily.

I looked at it again today and I think it may just be the oil pan gasket. What do yall think of the chances of that. I just think that after just 65k miles the rear main seal going out is kinda too early. Can't really see above where the oil pan gasket is so I can't tell if it's coming from above it or not.

it's not the plug, it's coming from above the plug, I can't see above where the oil pan gasket goes so I can't tell if it's coming from there or above it. I also looked in my haynes manual about the sending unit and it said to get to it you take off the oil filter and the ac compressor or whatever and that's on the front of the motor and the leak is coming from the back.

remember if you do the rear main seal do the cover gasket too, thats usually the problem.. you have to drop the tranny for the rear main.. you have to drop the suspension for the oil pan gasket, i'd rather drop the tranny though
