• Ram air and thermostat

Which is the best ram air set up? SLP? whisper? Other? Need an easy install, have no drill or anything like that.
Also is the 180 degree drilled thermostat on the Grand Prix site compatible with my 99 bird?
Thanx, jessica

if your going to get a drilled thermo why not just get the 160?

I was told the 160 changed the a/f mixture to rich. Anyway you were the only post so I got the 180 drilled and the slp intake. Hope it all works out. Thanks for looking, and post Jessica

i think you willhave to drill two holes for the slp intake. If you don't it will rattle. It wont fall out...but it could bang around a bit.

180 thermo is fine. you are right that 160 might be too low. the jury is out on that one...but scientific responses to this query point to 180 being better choice with stock tuning, etc.

save your old thermostat just in case that drilled thermo sets off a code.

save the o ring gasket as well. I have not seen replacement gaskets like that for our year vehicles at the average parts store.

be careful with the EGR metal tubing. It looks sturdy...and is flexible...but don't rip it.

Thanks, I ordered the gasket with the thermo, so I have a spare. I'll have to get a dremel to trim the airbox, maybe they have a little drill bit I could put in there, if I run it real slow. I don't have a drill. I also ordered the manual fan switch.

please don't order the manual fan switch :(

for what, 50 bucks? you get like 4 dollars worth of wire and a 5 dollar switch. If you can deal with the SES light (like I did!!) you could have just wired up at the fuses, and gotten the same effect.

If you wanna cancel that order, I can find you that diagram I had...

as far as ram air systems go, there's no difference in any of them really...maybe a blockoff plate, etc...but they're all pretty much the same as far as gains go

I just used a cheap saw for the bottom or air box. if you already have a dremel...ok...but would not suggest dropping money on dremel for the bottom of air box.
