    im about to do an oil change on my car. just wanted to know which kind of oil is the best to use on a 98 trans am.

    royal purple is the best i think or so people say, costs the most too, like $5 a quart. uneccessary thoh unless you have a pretty built motor, ne certified oil should be fine.

    maybe 10w-30 during the summer and a 5w during winter.

        I run 10w40 now... Works great, just all depends on how you drive the car really, and then temperatures, and a little on engine wear.

        I run 10w40 because my motor has almost 150k miles on it, and when I drive it, I drive for 100+ miles generally without stopping.

        Just gotta make sure your oil temp comes up a little bit before playing because it doesn't move quite as fast as 5w30...
