 Where is the puncuation? the commas, the periods?!? Grammar? or lack of it!?! My English professor would have a heart attack!

If your throttle cable seems too long then the pedal would go all the way to the floor and you wouldn't accelerate much. If it was adjusted too short then you would be opening the throttle all the way before your pedal reached the floor.
It may be that your car is just sluggish. Your engine isn't just going to respond whenever you hit the gas. A lot of different factors affect throttle response.

I mean, for lack of a better definition, that it just takes longer than usual to get up to speed. And this depends on a lot of different factors such as mileage, etc...

also what gear you are in. do you have an auto? if i floor it at like say 45, i don't really go anywhere. it sucks. but if i floor it at 35, my car takes off, because it downshifts. check your air filter, and maybe replace your fuel filter. your plugs/wires/coils can affect this, too.

I think it has more to do with what gear and speed you are at. Your car might not down shift at 45 but will at 40. An auto tranny can be a pain. How long have you had the car? Is it an auto? If its a new car to you it will take a while to learn all the shift points.

If its an engine problem then it could be a number of things. What does it sound like when you floor it and nothing happens? A few months ago my car was running sluggish and was making a sound that I can only compare to a gurgling sound. It turns out it was the egr valve so I cleaned that out. A few months later I had a similar problem. I had the fuel system cleaned out and went ahead and had a tune up done after I found out that 2 of the 3 starter coils were bad and replaced all of those along with plugs, wires, etc. It runs fine now. If I had to guess I would say that you have a problem with the fuel system.
