oil change

im goning to change my oil tommorrow and i was wondering how much oil im gonna hve to buy. how many quarts of oil does a 2002 v6 camaro hold? will 0w30 be ok to use?

10w-30 is what you should use. It should be somewhere around 5 quarts give or take

i would use 10w-30 and 4.5 qts

I use the larger oil filter and my car takes 5 qts.

About 5 quarts, and I use K&N HP-1001 oil filters.

I use a regular sized oil filter and 5 quarts. Fill it up perfectly. Just buy a 5 quart jug

i view my oil as an investment, i think i spent like $60 last change just for filter and oil, K&N + Royal Purple = unbeatable combination

PH-3980 Fram Oil Filter is the equivalent of AC Delco's PF-52. It's only the same length and choice for those who add 5 quarts of their favorite motor oil.

The Fram oil filter above however has a black grip coating on it for easier installation and removal. As with any decent filter, just be sure to coat the internal rubber neoprene gasket with fresh motor oil and wipe clean the area where the oil filter screws into the block. This saves you the aggravation of a stuck oil filter when a removal is attempted in the future.

TIP: I like to mark down my next oil change mileage interval on the surface of the oil filter with a nice thick permanent marker. It's a nice reminder when you look under the hood and wonder how much you drive til the next oil change.

I bought my 1997 3.8 F-body like a month and a half. When I bought it, the first thing I did was an oil change. The oil that I used was Castrol Synthec 10W-30, but a week ago I read on another forum that Castrol oil is very bad for this car. I really don't know, on the other car that was the oil that I used, and was the best, but obviously is not the same car.

What kind of oil can anyone suggest me? thank you:banana:

I have a 96 and I use Quaker State High Mileage most of the time. There isn't THAT much difference between most motor oils. Synthetics can tend to make a higher mileage car leak (at least from my experience), but I think if you're looking for highest quality... Royal Purple, from what I've heard on here.
