  • Alternator Underdrive Pulley Discovered

Well my alternator went out today on me so I ordered another one through my dad's supplier (he owns a mechanic shop) and I threw it on when I got it this afternoon. I compared the pullies on the stock alternator and the replacement and found the replacement one to have a different size pulley so now I have an underdrive pulley :) . And I didn't have to even buy one from zzp, just had to replace my alternator when it went out.

Just thought I would give you a heads up on possible benefits of having your alternator die on you, lol.

If breakdowns happened at better times, like before I just emptied my account on something else, then I would agree 100%, but with my car, I just spent a boatload on everything I needed to do my new elaborate exhaust and drained the oil and noticed coolant= head gasket. But hey, I guess it did work out b/c now, since the heads are coming off anyway, I'm rebuilding my whole valvetrain + cam. I took it to the next level ;)

So what's the part number and who makes it? I would like to see a pic of this.

When mine went died at 209k, I went to AC Delco. I trust AC Delco parts.

I have yet to do the Big 3 ( heavier gage cable to starter, alternator & battery ). Maybe when my original factory starter gives up the ghost.
